Gypsum flue gas desulfurization technology is a widely used and mature standard desulfurization technology. This technology uses limestone (CaCO3) as an absorbent to capture sulfur dioxide (SO2) in sulfur-containing flue gas and form gypsum (CaSO4 · 2H2O). This reaction effectively reduces the emission of sulfur oxides and helps to protect the environment.

Limestone-gypsum flue gas desulfurization is currently the most widely used and mature standard desulfurization technology in the world.

 

Details

It is the basic technology for flue gas desulfurization in large power plants internationally. It uses inexpensive limestone or lime as the desulfurization absorbent. Limestone is crushed and ground into a powder and mixed with water to form an absorbent slurry. When lime is used as the absorbent, lime powder is digested and mixed with water to form an absorbent slurry. In the absorption tower, the absorbent slurry is mixed with the flue gas, and the sulfur dioxide in the flue gas reacts with the calcium carbonate in the slurry and the injected air to be removed by chemical reaction, and the final reaction product is gypsum. The desulfurized gypsum slurry is recovered after dewatering. Due to the circulation of the absorbent slurry, the utilization rate of desulfurization absorbent is very high.
