The gas pressure regulating and metering device is composed of a rectangular block, regulating manifold, control valve, metering tube, flowmeter, regulating valve, regulating tube, filter, outlet pipe, inlet manifold, inlet port, outlet manifold, drain pipe, and safety relief valve. Its characteristic lies in the parallel arrangement of the inlet manifold, outlet manifold, and regulating manifold on the rectangular block, and they are horizontally parallel to the rectangular block. The regulating manifold is in the front, the outlet manifold is in the middle, and the inlet manifold is at the rear. Two parallel metering tubes are horizontally arranged between the inlet manifold and the regulating tube, with control valve, filter, pressure gauge, flowmeter, and control valve arranged sequentially on each metering tube. Two parallel regulating tubes are horizontally arranged between the outlet manifold and the regulating manifold, with control valve, pressure gauge, regulating valve, and control valve arranged sequentially on each regulating tube. A outlet pipe with a 90° elbow is installed in the middle of the outlet manifold, and an inlet port is installed on the side of the inlet manifold. A safety relief valve is installed on the inlet manifold and outlet manifold.

The pressure regulating and metering device (including gas pressure regulating cabinet, natural gas pressure regulating box, gas pressure regulating cabinet, natural gas pressure regulating cabinet) is a key equipment for gas transmission pipelines. The main function of the natural gas pressure regulating cabinet is to regulate and stabilize the system pressure, control the gas flow rate in the gas transmission system, and protect the system from excessive or too low outlet pressure.

Pressure and safety control are required in various stages of gas transmission. Depending on the pressure level, regulating precision, and related configurations, gas pressure regulating equipment can be classified into four types: "building pressure regulating box, regional pressure regulating box, high-pressure regulating station, and ultra-high-pressure regulating station".
